Surfers Capture Close Win
Despite a great performance by Omaha shortstop Stan Lodge, the Long Beach Surfers defeated the Cyclones by the score of 6-5 at Mordonez Ballpark. Lodge was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. Quirke Roddis recorded the save, his 8th. The Surfers sport a record of 28-51.

Had Pedro Vargas not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vargas hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Surfers.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Vargas.
