Portland catcher Allan Uecker was sensational. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Long Beach beat the Lumberjacks, 5-4. At 88-73, the Surfers find themselves in second place in the Frick League Pacific Division.

Bill Morley was the walk-off hero for Long Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Surfers center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Morley said.
