Nine Fall Short, 3-2, at Madison

The Madison Wolves topped the Yellow Springs Nine, 3-2, in Frick League action at Shotz Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Madison pitcher and Trois-Rivières, Canada, native Frank Ostrom. Clint Thomas notched his 26th save of the season. The Nine, at 70-92, have lost 4 straight games.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Wolves had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when center fielder Gary Keller hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Pete Hulett and made the score 2-0, Wolves. Keller went 1 for 2 with 2 walks.
"That's baseball," said Yellow Springs manager Bill Inkster. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
