The 6-0 Vancouver win over Long Beach was due largely to Sergio Mendoza. The Mounties third baseman went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The winning pitcher was Juan García. He's now 4-4. He went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits for the Mounties. Serge Elovsky earned the save for Vancouver, his 7th of the year.

With Vancouver leading 3-0 in the top of the ninth, Mendoza hit a slider from Seth Nagaswamy for a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 6-0.

"Sergio was ready to go. Big day for him," said Vancouver manager Hung-k'uei Cui.

With the win, the Mounties sit at 89-73.
