Crawdads Lose at Home, 7-2
|
Las Vegas pitcher Owen Geddes had a large part in his team subduing the New Orleans Crawdads, 7-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Geddes picked up the win for Las Vegas, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 6-7. The 4th-place Hustlers are now 38-42, the Crawdads 30-50.
Claudio Morgan drove in one run for Las Vegas. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Morgan, who is a two-time Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award winner, had a clutch at-bat. Facing New Orleans hurler Ed Smith, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hustlers a 3-2 lead.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said New Orleans manager Luis Hernández. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
