Sad Sack Thunder Bears Lose 6th Straight
|
The Tokyo Pearls picked up a win at Manama Fields, dropping the Moscow Thunder Bears, 4-3. Barry Short, who is tied for 5th in the GBC EA in innings pitched with 112.1, was the difference-maker. EugĂȘnio Velosa came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Moscow has now lost 6 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Michael Buckley came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Moscow pitcher Garrison Hewitt, he hit a 2-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tokyo on top, 4-3.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Short.
