Bywaters, Brisas Ring Up 13-5 Win
|
The Buenos Aires Brisas stormed past the Tokyo Pearls, 13-5, at Manama Fields. Buenos Aires shortstopNick Bywaters , who is tied for 7th in the GBC ASAO with a .915 OPS, led the hit parade. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Hai-liang Jianbua, the winning pitcher, is now 6-7. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2. The Brisas, at 45-60, sit in last place in the GBC AfSAmOc.
Buenos Aires used a clutch at-bat from Leonard Jackson to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Brisas ahead, 7-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We lit up the scoreboard," said Buenos Aires manager Yao-qing Yuan.
