Pilots Win with Late Rally
|
The Sao Paulo Pilots outlasted the Sydney Sharks in an extra-inning thriller.
The Sao Paulo Pilots faced a tough opponent in Sydney pitcher Eddie Armstrong, but still scratched out a win at Blacktown International Sportspark by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Armstrong went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Hassan bin Zuhair closed the game out for Sao Paulo, earning his 1st save.
With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the top of the ninth inning, pinch hitter Ulvi Basgil delivered big for the Pilots. Sao Paulo was trailing 4-1 when he belted a 3-run home run.
"We had a chance to win," said Sydney manager Jim Sánchez, "but we didn't get it done."
Sao Paulo has now won 4 in a row.
