Pharaohs Shut Out Gold, 3-0
|
Cairo Pharaohs starter Khaleel bin Zubair pitched a strong game against the Johannesburg Gold at Golden Palace, leading the Pharaohs to victory, 3-0. Sokollu Karpat, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities. The Pharaohs, at 78-39, have a comfortable 19-game lead in their division.
Cairo used the timely hitting of John Payne to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pharaohs on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said bin Zubair.
