Mad Popes Drop Black Sox, 7-5
|
Sacramento and Chicago duked it out and the Mad Popes came out victorious.
The Sacramento Mad Popes outlasted the Chicago Black Sox, 7-5, in 10 innings. Sacramento left fielder Craig Williams stood out with his performance. He was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. With the win, Sacramento raised its record to 47-33.
Williams had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a 1-1 sinker from Gary Powers, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Mad Popes a 6-5 lead. It was the 22nd double of the year for Williams.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Williams. "I like it."
