Tokyo Beats Jerusalem, 7-5
|
The Tokyo Pearls beat the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers, 7-5, at The Holy Land. Tokyo first baseman Jules Le Gal, who is tied for 6th in the GBC EA with a .558 slugging percentage, collected 2 singles and 1 double with 2 runs batted in. Eugênio Velosa was credited with the save, his 6th in 8 tries. The Pearls have an impressive 77-46 record.
Reko Kelander had a big 2-run home run for the Pearls in the top of the third inning. With Tokyo leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Luke Seddon, who is tied for 6th in the GBC EA in strikeouts with 116, and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Pearls on top, 5-1.
"We've got a great group of guys," Kelander said, "and we're having fun right now."
