Pilots Fall Short, 4-3, at Johannesburg
|
The Johannesburg Gold and Sao Paulo Pilots played an entertaining game for Golden Palace patrons.
Johannesburg picked up a win at Golden Palace, bumping off the Sao Paulo Pilots, 4-3. Pitcher Tony Tighe was a major reason the Gold emerged victorious. Johannesburg bumps their record to 65-76 with the win.
Kozma Gizikis had a big 2-run double for the Gold in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Johannesburg leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Max Dawe, who finished 5th in the GBC in saves with 34 in 2058, and swatted a double to center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gold ahead, 4-1.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Tighe told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
