The Sacramento Mad Popes started the 2063 season win an impressive 9-2 win against the Long Beach Surfers at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. Yoshitora Goto led the way for Sacramento.

John Kinsella had a big 2-run double for the Mad Popes in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Sacramento leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher José Owens and swatted a double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mad Popes ahead, 5-1.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Kinsella told the Sacramento Bulletin.
