Buckley Leads Pearls to 13-5 Win Over Gold
|
Led by Michael Buckley, the Tokyo Pearls downed the Johannesburg Gold, 13-5. Buckley went 3-3 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Pearls. Jacome Kretzchner claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record stands at 8-8. Tokyo improves to 84-62 with the win. They lead their division by 8 games.
Tokyo used a clutch at-bat from Ra'id bin Tamir to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Pearls ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I still think this team can play even better," Buckley told the Tokyo Daily.
