Pearls Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
Manama Fields played host to some real drama.
Tokyo Pearls starter Billy Kelly pitched well against the Cairo Pharaohs at Manama Fields, leading his team to a win, 4-3. Tokyo reliever Max Birstall picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Tashfin Gitonga was saddled with the loss.
Tokyo got a clutch hit from Matt Cashmann. The designated hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"This was a good win," said Cashmann.
The first-place Pearls, at 87-63, lead the GBC EurAsia Division by 7½ games.
