Pilots Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
|
The Sao Paulo Pilots, despite a fine performance by Jerusalem pitcher Ed Noble, grabbed a 3-2 win in 11 innings at Ballpark of Bucharest. Noble allowed 1 run over 7.2 innings. The winner in relief was Bryan Hall. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-3. With the victory, the Pilots upped their record to 78-74.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Sao Paulo. That's when Saulo Bayi hit a run-scoring double off 33-year old right-handed pitcher Paul Cherry to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Bayi, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
