Johannesburg Charts 3-1 Win Over Buenos Aires
|
In a low-scoring game between the Johannesburg Gold and the Buenos Aires Brisas, pitcher Max Dawe was masterful on the mound. The Johannesburg right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Johannesburg reliever Jeff Bannon picked up the win, raising his record to 5-6. Mathis Gérard was tagged with the loss. Bill Wallace earned the save, his 13th.
Mark Benjamin had a direct impact on the outcome. Benjamin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Johannesburg up, 3-1.
"Every loss hurts," said Buenos Aires manager Yao-qing Yuan. "But this was a tough one."
The win makes Johannesburg 82-69.
