Monarchs Win at Athens, 5-1
|
London pitcher Ron McLeish had a large part in his team subduing the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 5-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. At 80-73, the Monarchs are currently third in the GBC EurAsia.
Pablo Gamboa had a big run-scoring double for the Monarchs in the top of the third inning. With London leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Travis Wearne, who is tied for 7th in the GBC EA in wins with 11, and swatted a double to center. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monarchs ahead, 2-0.
London manager Jack Gulliver praised his team's "businesslike approach."
