Stars Pull Out Late Win, 8-7
The Valencia Stars withstood an impressive performance by Yellow Springs right fielder Carlos Hernández to defeat the Nine, 8-7, at Utopia Field. Hernández was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Pedro Germán came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Valencia, with the win, sits at 28-54.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 21-year old center fielder Santiago Diéguez. Diéguez had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars ahead, 8-6. For the game, Diéguez had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Stars manager Roberto Solís wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
