It was a sensational day at the plate for Viorel Radu as he led the charge to a nifty 8-1 win over the Buzzards. The Castroville center fielder was pure misery for the Elkins pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

"Radu put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Walt Whitworth, manager for the Buzzards, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Viorel Radu singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Warner Lyon in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

This year, Radu is hitting .235 with 3 home runs.
