Vancouver Makes It 6 Straight with 3-1 Win
|
Yellow Springs got a valiant performance from pitcher Hannes Schwarzacher, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vancouver Mounties. Vancouver won the game, 3-1. Schwarzacher threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to 27-year old right-handed pitcher Alexander Sakellaridis in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Hannes Schwarzacher took the loss. Jesús García, who is tied for 2nd in the FL in saves with 18, nailed down the save.
Had Greg Clover not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Clover hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Mounties.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Hung-k'uei Cui.
The third-place Mounties have won 6 in a row.
