Nashville Stymied by Sacramento, 2-1
|
The Basilica at Muskrat Slough was the site of a competitive game between the Nashville Bluebirds and Sacramento Mad Popes.
Phil Cole could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Nashville Bluebirds lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Sacramento Mad Popes at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. Von Alejo notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 4-1. Dave Cain was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Callum Browne drove in one run for Sacramento. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Phil Cole. It was his 38th RBI of the season.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Browne, "and then get after it again."
The first-place Mad Popes have a one-game lead in their division.
