With 4-1 Win, River Monsters Improve to 47-38
|
The Twin Cities River Monsters scooped up a win at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough, dumping the Sacramento Mad Popes, 4-1. Jerry Stone, who finished 3rd in the FL in ERA with 2.94 in 2059, was essential to his team's success. Stone, the winner, moves to 7-5. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Twin Cities is 47-38 and Sacramento, with the loss, 41-45.
Raúl Gallehos, who finished 2nd in the FL in wins above replacement with 7.2 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gallehos contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Twin Cities up, 2-1.
"Jerry is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Twin Cities manager Gerald Brandt.
