Sacramento took on Yellow Springs in front of a lively crowd.
Sacramento Mad Popes starter Jamie Barber was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Yellow Springs Nine, 4-1. Earning his 13th save of the year was Claudio Torres.
The Nine had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mad Popes going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Lou Bayou came to the plate. Bayou hit a 3-run home run on a 2-2 slider from Yellow Springs hurler Javier Martínez. It was Bayou's 7th home run of the year.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Sacramento skipper Fernando Pacheco. "I can't complain."
The Mad Popes, at 43-45, inhabit 6th place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
