Bears Curb Black Sox, 6-4
|
The San Fernando Bears defeated the Chicago Black Sox, 6-4. Third Baseman Yuu Suzuki deserved a large share of the credit. Suzuki went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Bears. Morgan Tomsett got the win, improving to 2-8. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 0. With the win over Chicago, the Bears improved to 47-43.
San Fernando took a 6-4 lead on José Reyes's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Reyes hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Orlando Rúbio visibly frustrated.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Suzuki.
