The Chicago Black Sox faced a tough opponent in San Fernando pitcher Rick Marriott, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Chico's Bail Bonds Field by a final score of 5-1. Marriott went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Reliever Azim bin Ghalib picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Ben Weaver took the loss. The Black Sox are now 51-39, while the Bears fall to 46-44.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Timofei Gadomsky to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Sox on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Gadomsky attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
