Koo Homers Twice in 9-2 Win
The Des Moines Kernels pinned a convincing loss on the Vancouver Mounties, 9-2, at Northwoods Outpost. Wan-ling Koo was a main factor in the win. He went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Des Moines. José Barrón, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 9 innings. The second-place Kernels bumped their record to 52-38.

With Des Moines leading 5-2 in the top of the ninth, Koo came up to bat against Vancouver pitcher Alfredo Anaya. Koo hit a sinker to left for a grand slam home run. His 15th home run of the season put the Kernels on top, 9-2.

Said losing manager Hung-k'uei Cui: "We did everything to set the stage for them to beat us."
