Streaking Kernels Win Another One, 3-1
Des Moines Kernels starter Steven Clayton turned in an exceptional performance against the Portland Lumberjacks at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard, resulting in a Des Moines win, 3-1. Clayton picked up the win for Des Moines, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 10-4. Scott Everard closed out the game, earning his 11th save.

The Kernels got a big boost from designated hitter Carlos Rodríguez who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Lumberjacks hurler Murali Patachli. It was his 29th walk of the season and put Des Moines on top, 1-0.

"Everybody is chipping in right now," said Rodríguez. "That's what makes it so much fun."

The Kernels, at 53-38, have now won 8 straight.
