Bowra Sharp in 13-0 Shutout
The Victoria Purple Knights shut out the Durban Dockers, 13-0, behind the strong pitching of Jay Bowra. Bowra surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 9.

Following the last out, Bowra appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Durban manager Gary Kirkham, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Bowra's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Dockers skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Purple Knights press conference, Bowra confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Bowra said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Victoria manager Soshu Ohayashi added.

Bowra has posted a 8-1 record for the year with a 2.40 ERA. Teams are hitting .197 against him and he has rung up 74 strikeouts in 75 innings.
