The Portland Lumberjacks got a hard-earned win over the Yellow Springs Nine, 6-4, in 11 innings. Mynorli Gaajlimitz provided some offensive muscle for Portland. He went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. Portland reliever Sameer Abdul-Malik was the winner. His record is now 3-5. Cory McGuire took the loss. The Lumberjacks, at 51-42, sit in third place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Gaajlimitz delivered big-time for Portland, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Cory McGuire. The game-changing hit put the Lumberjacks on top, 5-4.
Portland manager Mons Raider was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
