Brooklyn 5-2 Losers to Pioneers
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Calgary Pioneers and Brooklyn Robins.
The Calgary Pioneers got a strong performance from pitcher Bob English, who stymied the Brooklyn offense en route to a win, 5-2, at McDermott Park at Ebbets Field. Edward Harrison, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 23rd save.
Bülent Kazaz dealt the Robins a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Calgary leading 1-0, Kazaz, who is tied for 2nd in the JL in runs scored with 68, hit a 1-2 slider for a 2-run single.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Kazaz told the Calgary News.
The first-place Pioneers have won 4 straight games.
