Blazers Score Late to Beat Talons, 4-3
|
The Phoenix Talons got a sterling performance from pitcher Nick Rivers, but the Montreal Blazers still prevailed, 4-3. Rivers threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Montreal reliever Wlodz Sidelsky picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Filippio Ioriatti was saddled with the loss. With the win, Montreal upped its record to 55-42.
Jim Garrick drove in 2 runs for Montreal. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Filippio Ioriatti. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"I was a little disappointed," said Phoenix manager Thad Meyer. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
