The Atlantic City Gamblers had to overcome a fine effort from Austin pitcher Mus'ad Amr to win, 5-4, at Austin Baseball Grounds. Amr went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Atlantic City reliever Jesús Martínez was the winner. His record is now 6-6. The losing pitcher was Nelson Middlebrooks. The last-place Shredders dropped to 37-64.

Atlantic City used the timely hitting of Ricardo Romo to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gamblers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning never gets dull," said Romo.
