Runako Gets 5 Hits
|
Yekoyasi Runako knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Patos Park, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 21-year-old left fielder hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Montevideo Leones fell, 3-2, to the Porto Alegre Patos.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Patos manager José Brown told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Runako wasn't the difference."
Yekoyasi Runako hit a solo-shot off Chris Barber in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Love in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 10th.
Runako is currently batting .282 with 7 home runs, 27 runs scored and 15 RBIs. His OBP is .351.
