Win Makes Montreal 58-45
|
Montreal beat Mexico City on the strength of starting pitcher Ron Tighe's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. In 6 innings, Tighe surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Augusto Ayala picked up the save for Montreal, his 27th of the year.
Enver Kusçu had a big 2-run home run for the Blazers in the bottom of the second inning. With Montreal trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Ji-e Woo, who is tied for 7th in the JL in innings pitched with 131.1, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blazers ahead, 3-2.
"Ron did a good job keeping the game under control," said Montreal manager Paul Scholes.
With the win, Montreal goes to 58-45, while the Aztecs fall to 50-53.
