|
Athens turned a fine outing from starter Romain Cormier into a victory over the Tokyo Pearls at Manama Fields. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Cormier, now 4-16. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. The win puts Athens at 53-106.
The Fighting Centaurs got a big at-bat from right fielder Andrés Soto. For the game, Soto went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 21st double of the season gave Athens a 3-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Athens manager Raoul de Braber.
