Tropics Lose, 4-2, at The Trail in Multnomah
|
The Portland Lumberjacks took Hawaii pitcher Gerardo Rea's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Trail in Multnomah. The final score had Portland getting past the Tropics, 4-2. Rea went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 5. Portland reliever Frank Wilson picked up the win, upping his record to 5-7. Gerardo Rea took the loss. After today's action, Portland sits at 50-60; Hawaii slips to 65-45.
Had Farid bin Mubarak not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, bin Mubarak hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Lumberjacks.
bin Mubarak called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
