|
Starting pitcher Brian Whitford fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Atlantic City Gamblers stymie the Cape Fear Swamp Foxes, 5-2. Whitford got the win, improving to 9-5. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Jesús Martínez earned the save for Atlantic City, his 28th of the year.
Ricardo Romo hit a 2-run triple off Todd Stone in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Gamblers in front, 2-1. In addition to the triple, Romo had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
Said losing manager Francisco Catazara: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
The win makes Atlantic City 61-50.
