Black Sox Win Streak Now at 7 After 1-0 Victory
|
In a tight game between the Chicago Black Sox and the Yellow Springs Nine, pitcher Stevie Bodine was terrific on the mound. The Chicago right-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. Bodine, now 10-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Richard Lawrence got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 34th of the year.
Marcos Echevarría helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Black Sox.
"The team always comes first," Bodine told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
The wins continue to add up for Chicago. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
