Behind a solid performance from third baseman Mas'ud bin Salah al Din, the Phoenix Talons defeated the Boise Spuds, 9-7. bin Salah al Din was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Talons. The winner in relief was Jodie Hanna. He is now 5-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The save went to Richard Balgera, his 1st this season.

Phoenix used the timely hitting of Ziya Türkes to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Talons on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said bin Salah al Din. "Those qualities define our team."

The Talons go to 48-66, putting them last in the Johnson League Frontier Division.
