The home team gave the crowd some walk-off drama.
Boise Spuds starter Doug Eckhoff pitched effectively against the Mexico City Aztecs at F. Nephi Grigg Memorial Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-4 win. Boise pitcher Mario Santos earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Johnny Lovell suffered the loss.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, former first round draft pick Perry Taylor had a real shot to win the game. Mexico City pitcher Johnny Lovell was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Taylor hit a run-scoring single. The Spuds had a walk-off triumph.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Eckhoff said.
The Spuds have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 3rd win in 12 games.
