Mounties Win at San Fernando, 7-5
|
The Vancouver Mounties beat the San Fernando Bears, 7-5, at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. Vancouver left fielder Greg Clover had the hot bat. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3. At 66-48, the Mounties find themselves in second place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
It could have been a different outcome for Vancouver, had it not been for Carlos Colón, the 24-year old first baseman . Colón contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Vancouver up, 4-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Vancouver manager Hung-k'uei Cui.
