6-3 Loss to Tropics Extends Valencia Losing Streak
Hawaii third baseman Carlos Antúnez was instrumental in helping the Tropics triumph, 6-3, over the Valencia Stars. Antúnez went 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Bill Phillips came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Jesús Ríos earned the save for Hawaii, his 2nd of the year.

John Harris had a big 2-run double for the Tropics in the top of the first inning. With Hawaii leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Alvin Anstey and swatted a double to center. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tropics ahead, 3-0.

"It's a humbling game and right now we're being humbled in a lot of different areas," said Valencia manager Roberto Solís.

This loss makes it 17 in a row for Valencia.
