Brooks Fighting Pheasants Are Champs
|
For the Brooks Fighting Pheasants, it was a joyful time; for the Orlando Oranges, it was gloom and doom.
With a 2-1 win at Citrus Park, Brooks closed out the championship 3-2 over Orlando.
The Fighting Pheasants have now won their 2nd league championship in franchise history. The streets around the Fighting Pheasants' stadium were a mob scene, filling quickly with fans, while banners and flags were held high and waved proudly.
"It's unbelievable for us, our great fans, and all of Brooks," said a smiling owner The owner of the Brooks Fighting Pheasants. "The guys really put their heart and soul into this season and it paid off for them."
In a somewhat somber and dejected Oranges clubhouse, manager David Trujillo said his team "just didn't get the job done."
"The Fighting Pheasants played as good as any team I've seen and deserve to be champions," he said.
The champs finished the regular season 87-57 and claimed first place in the Roundfield League Western.
