Mad Popes Clip Lumberjacks, 6-5, in DS Contest
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes knotted up the Doubleday Series at The Trail in Multnomah, thanks in large part to designated hitter Craig Williams. Williams was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs as he overpowered the Portland Lumberjacks, enabling Sacramento to grab the 6-5 win and move into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Had Williams not come through in the top of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Williams hit a run-scoring single. The Mad Popes took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Williams.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Trail in Multnomah in Portland.
