Blitzed by Espinoza, Pearls, Hebrew Hammers Sink Further in WILD
|
The Tokyo Pearls are one game away from a sweep after downing the visiting Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers at Manama Fields, 9-1. Pearls shortstop José Espinoza was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Tokyo now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Round.
Espinoza had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second to put Tokyo in front, 4-0. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run off Jerusalem pitcher Leonard Squillari.
"I don't care a whit about getting a sweep," Espinoza said. "The only part of it that matters to me is it means we've got a lot of chances to get that last win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Manama Fields in Tokyo.
