Owens Blasts Kernels, Tropics Take Game 2, 5-2
The Hawaii Tropics moved to within one game of the Doubleday Series, downing the visiting Des Moines Kernels at ‘Iolani Palace by a score of 5-2. Tropics left fielder Eric Owens did some major damage. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Tropics a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Geoghegan Round.

Owens had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the first for the Tropics. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Hawaii trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.

"Eric was ready to go. Big day for him," said Hawaii manager Rich Kerr.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard in Des Moines.
