Almost There: Moscow On Cusp of Grand Slam Cup by Denny's, Marko and Subaru Triumph After 4-3 Win
|
A strong performance from pitcher Ed Noble was not enough for the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers, who were stopped by the visiting Moscow Thunder Bears, 4-3, in Game 4 of the Grand Slam Cup by Denny's, Marko and Subaru. The Thunder Bears never truly figured out the right-handed Noble, who threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Still, the Thunder Bears now hold a 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Had Maximilian Nielsson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Nielsson hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Thunder Bears.
"We haven't stopped playing," Jerusalem manager Alfredo Cuellar said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bears Den in Moscow.
