Canó Blasts Bluebirds, River Monsters Take Game 1, 10-9
With first baseman Jorge Canó leading the charge, the Twin Cities River Monsters got a road win over the Nashville Bluebirds, 10-9, in Game 1 of the Cartwright Cup. Canó went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 at Les Paul Field to help Twin Cities take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

With Twin Cities leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Miller Shed hit a 2-run single off Nashville pitcher Bin-ying Yen. It put the River Monsters ahead 3-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Shed.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Les Paul Field in Nashville.
