Almost There: Twin Cities On Cusp of DS Triumph After 11-4 Win
The Twin Cities River Monsters moved to within one game of the Cartwright Cup, downing the visiting Sacramento Mad Popes at Land O' Lakes Ballpark by a score of 11-4. River Monsters catcher Mathew Malone did some major damage. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. The win gives the River Monsters a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Doubleday Series.

Darren Wearne came through for Twin Cities with a 2-run double in the bottom of the second. The right fielder went 3 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 2 doubles. He scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in.

"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Wearne told the Twin Cities Times. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Land O' Lakes Ballpark in St. Paul.
